The state department has set up a toll free number you can call if you're looking for information on U.S. citizens affected by the earthquake and tidal waves.

CARE
The organization's emergency response to the disaster includes provision of items such as food, water purification tablets, soaps, shelter materials, basic medical supplies and cooking supplies.

AuctionDrop.com
Bring your used and new cameras, computers, consumer electronics, or other items into any UPS Store and AuctionDrop will sell them on eBay and donate 100 percent of the net proceeds to CARE.

Hindu Temple & Community Center, South Bay
The Hindu Tempe & Community Center in Sunnyvale will be holding a fundraiser on Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. to raise money for victims of the tsunami in India.

World Vision
World Vision offices in countries across the region are working to provide help to those affected. The organization focuses on childrens' relief efforts.

Karuna Trust:
This local organization is collecting monetary donations, medical supplies, food and clothing for victims of the tsunami disaster in Sri Lanka.

Hidaya Foundation:
Hidaya Foundation has initiated relief efforts in Sri Lanka and is planning to do so in India and Indonesia for medical supplies, temporary shelters and long term rehabilitation for the affectees.

The Clarence Foundation:
This East Bay organization is collecting money for relief efforts in Sri Lanka.

Tamil Rehabilitation Organization
This charitable organization in Sri Lanka is engaged in rendering urgent humanitarian assistance to all those in the coastal areas of the northeast of Sri Lanka who have borne the brunt of the tsunami disaster.

United Methodist Church
The relief agency has long-term relationships with other organizations that are responding to the tsunami disaster on the ground. The agencies are working closely with UMCOR to provide what is needed to the people locally.

Now House
The manufacturers of a prefab green home are hoping to sell it and donate the profits to tsunami victims. For more information, visit http://www.nowhouse.org/. The company is also working with the City of San Francisco to donate land to put the house on. However, if anyone is interested in buying the home outright and putting it on land that they already own, they should email scott@nowhouse.org.
